Orbital Motion
In lesson 2.10, you learned about circular orbits, which can be solved using uniform circular motion. However, Kepler’s 1st Law states that all orbits are elliptical, it's just that AP Physics 1 approximates some orbits to be circles for simplicity. In circular orbits, the satellite’s distance from the central body and the velocity of the satellite is considered constant, which does not happen in an elliptical orbit. However, in both elliptical and circular orbits, the motion of the central body can be considered negligible.
