Electric Potential

Electric potential is defined as the electric potential energy per charge at a point in space. Usually this can be created by many point charges. Electric potential is scalar, measured in Volts (V), and represented with the variable V{V}.

V=k∑iqiriV=k \sum_{i} \frac{q_i}{r_i}
  • V{V} is the electric potential at a point in space
  • k{k} is Coulomb’s constant
  • qi{q_i} is the charge of each charge in the system
  • ri{r_i} is the distance between the point in space and each charge in the system
