Properties of Buffers

A buffer solution contains a larger concentration of the conjugate acid and base pair. This means that if base is added, it reacts with the conjugate acid and gets slightly neutralized, and vice versa if acid is added. These reactions result in the pH being roughly stable in a buffer. For more information on buffers, please refer to Lesson 8.4.
