Circuits

Circuits consist of electrical loops of wires and circuit components. One circuit can have more than one electrical loop and circuit elements can be a part of multiple electric loops.

There are 3 kinds of circuits: closed, open, and short circuits. Closed circuits are the most common, and they allow charge to flow through the wires. Open circuits are circuits where charge cannot flow. Short circuits happen when charges flow in a wire with no change in potential difference. It is important to note that short circuits are pretty rare to see in AP Physics 2 and they usually result from an error in the circuit where the charge flows in an unwanted direction or path of lower resistance, when it should’ve gone to a path of high resistance.
