Strong Nuclear Force

In the nucleus of an atom, there are protons and neutrons. In theory, these protons should have an incredible repulsive force due to them being so close together and the nucleus shouldn’t be stable. In the early 20th century, they discovered another force at play in the nucleus to counteract this electrostatic repulsion, the strong nuclear force. This force acts across extremely small distances but is the most powerful force in nature.
