Within molecules, atoms are bonded together by chemical bonds. However, within substances, molecules are held together as well. The forces that hold molecules together known as intermolecular forces and are another type of electromagnetic attraction between molecules. They are much weaker than chemical bonds, which are known as intramolecular forces.
