Faraday's Law

So far in Unit 9, we studied the electrochemical reactions which turn a solid into an ion in solution and an ion in solution into a solid. Now this shows how in an electrochemical cell, the anode will lose mass and the cathode will gain mass. We can use Faraday’s Law to calculate how much mass is transferred over a certain amount of time.

Faraday’s law relies on dimensional analysis, or canceling out units until you get the value you want. There will be a couple of conversion factors that will be important in many problems.
