3.13 Chinese Agricultural Calendar

The Chinese Agricultural Calendar is a lunisolar system that aligns the moon’s phases with the seasons of the solar year. It emerged from the need to organize farming cycles, ensuring crops were planted and harvested at the right time. Lunar months measure the motion of the moon while solar terms indicate seasonal change. As a result, the Lunar New Year shifts each year according to the sun’s movement, linking cultural festivals with nature rather than fixed calendar dates.
